The email2 Toolbar won't load?

In some cases, the email2 Toolbar doesn't load correctly in Outlook and reinstalling it does not fix the problem. If you are unable to load the email2 Toolbar, there are three known possible issues. Follow the instructions below in order:

1. Re-enable the Add-in files for Microsoft Outlook 2003.

  • First, in Outlook, click the "Help > About Microsoft Office Outlook" menu
  • Click on the "Disabled Items" button.
  • In the window that appears, ensure that no email2 items are disabled. If an email2 item is disabled, simply highlight it and press "Enable".
  • Close the window and restart Outlook. Your email2 Toolbar should load properly. If not, please proceed to step 2.

2. Enable email2 as a COM Add-In

  • In Outlook 2003, click the "Tools > Options" menu
Select the "Other" tab and click on 'Advanced Options' in the "General" section.
In the Advanced Options window, click the "COM Add-ins" button
  • In Outlook 2007, click the "Tools > Trust Center" menu
Select the "Add-ins" tab and select 'Manage COM Add-ins' and click "Go".
  • Make sure the "email2 Toolbar" checkbox is selected and click "OK".
  • Close the window and restart Outlook. Your email2 Toolbar should load properly. If not, Microsoft Vista users, please proceed to step 2.

3. Vista users, make sure UAC is turned on

  • In Vista, click on the "Start Program > Control Panel > Turn User Account Control On / Off" menu option.
  • Makes sure the UAC is turned on and click "OK".
  • Close the window and restart Outlook. Your email2 Toolbar should load properly. If not, please contact your PEN administrator.
