What happens when someone replies to an Invitation Message?

Sometimes, new users reply to email2 Invitation Messages, which are sent with basic email. This has two major problems:

  1. Replying with basic email means that the message exists outside of the email2 system. In addition to losing the added security of email2, tracking results are not available, and auditable copies of the message are not left on the Private Email Network (PEN) servers. Any special features that the initial sender enabled in the original email2 message will be unavailable.
  2. If the sender is relying on the email2 AJAX Web Client Interface, then the basic email reply to his or her initial email2 message may not make it to the intended target.

Often, users that are replying to Invitation Messages are unaware that they are doing so. For this reason, when a user replies to an Invitation Message in Outlook, with the email2 Toolbar installed, Outlook automatically changes the email address from the initial sender's to a default email address (noreply@email2.com).

When a message is sent to noreply@email2.com, the email2 system will automatically notify the initial sender that a recipient has replied to an Invitation Message with basic email. The email2 system will then notify the person who sent the reply, and make sure that he or she is aware of what has happened so that they reply can be properly sent using email2.

If a user is intent on replying to an Invitation Message for whatever reason, he or she may do so by changing the "noreply@email2.com" email address back to the initial sender's email address. The purpose of this safeguard is only to prevent accidental replies, not intentional ones.
