Spammers venture into VoIP

You’ve heard about SPAM, now meet its younger brother, SPIT.

SPIT stands for “Spam Over Internet Telephony,” and basically it means receiving unsolicited internet phone calls, over services like Skype.

SPIT doesn’t relate to email2 directly, but it certainly relates to online communication in general — a topic we’re always interested in hearing about.

According to The physics of arXiv blog, SPIT is proving even more difficult to control than SPAM.

The emergence of SPIT serves to demonstrate that SPAM isn’t going away. Any system that allows users to be messaged without their consent is going to result in unsolicited contact.

A potential solution — at least in the email world — is creating an online gated community, like the Private Email Networks that email2 offers our customers. A Private Email Network is an exclusive group of users that have chosen to communicate together. Try setting up a Private Email Network for your company today.
